How to install and run the LCSE HVR GUI:

  • Download and extract the following zip file: LCSE_GUI

    Linux Dependancies:
    - NVidia Video Card
    - Cg Toolkit
    - Glut
    - Set environment variable $DISPLAY (ex localhost:1)
    - Working and running X session

    Windows Dependancies:
    - .NET 2.0 Framework

    Under the "Linux"
  • Place all the binaries and libraries in a directory visible to all rendering nodes
  • Run lcse_serv without arguments on each rendering node
  • Copy the .hv file from the "Test Data" folder to a local (performance) or shared disk on each rednering node

    Under the "Windows/LCSE_GUI"
  • Open UMLCSE_GUI.exe
  • Under "Window" open HvrControl , HvrImageViewer , HvrNodeExplorer , and HvrColorEditor
  • In "HVR Node Explorer" right click in the "Render Nodes" pane and choose "Custom"
  • Enter the IP address of one render node, leave port number as default; 9005, add additional nodes for enhanced performance.
  • To display the image under the X session: right click in the "Display Nodes" pane, choose "Custom"
  • Enter IP Address, and appropriate section if this is displaying in a grid
  • Edit the "default.key" file in this folder. Change the "hvfile" line to point to the hv file from the "Test Data" folder
  • In Hvr Control choose "File" and "Open Keyfile", browse to the key you just edited and open it.

    If all goes well you should have the rendered image returned to the "Image Viewer" window.
